I AM PROUD

To walk down the street,
And be judged for who I am,
To not be like you,
To not do as you do,
Seeing everyone is alike.
To look through your eyes,
And see everyone is not.
To not look like you,
To be different,
Only Shows,
I am proud.

Proud of who I am.
How I look.
Where I come from.
Who I am.
To not judge someone,
For how they look.
To be there for all.
To see past the color.
To see past the differences.
To finally say,
I am proud
![]()
The place I come from.
The pride that I have.
To know my heritage,
And know who I am.
To hear what my ancestors
went through,
So I could live,
With the joy in my heart,
The love in my soul.
To know what is right,
And do what I do,
Only shows,
I am proud.

Proud of my life.
To know what I know.
To show everyone,
The person I am,
The heritage I know,
The people I see.
To walk with my head held high.
To have pride in who I am.

As my time draws near,
I take a look back.
I see what I have done.
To remember the things I did.
To know that I..
have made a difference,
In the lives of those I know.
To know that now,
I still am proud.

I have noticed in my
life .
that all men have a liking for some
special animal, tree, plant or spot of earth.
If man would pay attention to these
preferences and seek
what is best to do in order
to make themselves worthy of that
toward which they are so attracted,
they might have dreams
which would purify their lives.
Let a man decide upon
his favorite animal and make
a study of it, learning its innocent ways.
Let him learn to understand
its sounds and motions.
The animals want to communicate
with man, but Wakantanka
does not intend
that they shall do this directly-
Man must do the greater part
in securing an understanding.

We return thanks
to our mother, the earth,
which sustains us.
We return thanks to the rivers and
streams, which supply us with water.

We return thanks to all herbs, which
furnishes medicines for the care
of our diseases.
We return thanks to the corn, and
to her sisters, the beans
and squashes,
which give us life.
We return thanks to the wind,
which moving
the air has banished diseases.
We return thanks to the moon and stars,
which have given us their light
when the sun was gone.

We return thanks to the sun,
that has looked upon the earth,
with a beneficent eye.
Lastly, we return thanks
to the Great Spirit,
in whom is embodied
all goodness,
and who directs all things for the
good of his children.
~Iroquois Prayer~(adapted)

There is but one sky ...
above us.

May we learn ..
to live together
as one .....
So that we may finally ...
live together...
in Peace....
What a difference !
this change ...
Of attitude would make.
The world would be ..
a nicer place ..
In which to live.
It would be a precious gift...
A gift we would give..
To ourselves,
our children,
And our childrens' children.....
Think of this
as we look forward ..
To a new millenium....
Think of this...
With Peace and Love ...
in your heart,
And be proud...
of who you are.
